Packing Up
Merantau
Dimano bumi dipijak, disitu langik dijunjuang.
My late grandfather is of Minangkabau descent. Been thinking about him lately.

Nak Raya dah
* Somewhere in PM-3
Bak kata seseorang:
"Kerja minyak dan gas ni memang kotor.. tapi duit dalam bank tak kotor pun."
Hehe. Selamat beribadah di penghujung Ramadhan ini.

The Shift
My world turned upside down last July when I had to quit my job. Its due to office politics, plus uncooperative seniors who always prioritize in covering their own lame asses and refusing to guide me, fearing one day that I will be able to take over their job and render them redundant. All 3 personnel before me obviously left because of the same reason. I mean, the bosses can tell you that they got a better offer somewhere else.. but hey, if the company is that good, they would've stayed. There's an internal power struggle in the company and I'm glad that I left early.
My decision to go jobless guerilla-style is questioned by many. Including my own Mom.
I don't have any other offer at that time. But hey, who the hell cares anyway!
Miraculous at it may seem. I started to get numerous interviews and subsequently several job offers just after I quit my job. And the best part of it all, is that..
I still get to stay here in Kemaman. Enjoying its relaxed lifestyle. And working in the oil and gas industry.. still. Alhamdulillah.
* Transocean drilling rig, slated for repair if I'm not mistaken.
And yes. Its a better paying job. With a more interesting work scope (nope, Flowserve didn't even provide me with a work scope). And I even get to go offshore with friendly and helpful work colleagues.

Standing on guard from the skies
Was at PETLIN Kerteh at around 4pm today, when suddenly there's a loud explosion coming from the sky above.
BOOM!!
It turns out that a couple of RMAF MiG-29s were flying at supersonic speed, and were practising some combat manoeuvres somewhere in the middle of the ocean.
I just heard and experienced a sonic boom. Holy..!! :D
Thanks to our fighter pilots up there, for their tireless vigilance.

Working Life
Months ago before I came to Terengganu, some of my friends told me that life here in the east coast is boring and quiet.
No, I don't miss city life. Life here is great!
Its so relaxing here, so relaxing in fact that I think I'm on holiday. :D
There's a saying which sounds more or less like this, "White skinned or fair people would love to get tanned, Tanned or dark skinned people however wish to be fair". Its very relative. If you lived in the city for about 20 or so years, you'll find the east coast life here to be heaven-like.
I've started work (in case you don't know). Barely a month in the oil and gas industry and I have so far felt satisfied. Many people think that working in this field is financially rewarding, which is true, but at the end of the day.. you got to love your work - that's the driving factor to keep you going, no matter what industry you're in.
I've met many people with various personalities in this field. At times work can be very stressful, and I haven't gone offshore yet. I once asked a senior work colleague about working offshore, and I asked him: "Best tak pergi offshore?". His answer was:
"Best apa benda? Mu duduk atas bom!"
Wish me luck guys. :)
and Mom, this is for you. Thanks for all the love and support for all these years. You can have your holiday now.
